About Me

Civil Engineering Student

Initially receiving his high school diploma from Vancouver College Secondary (VC), Henry is now in his first year studying civil engineering at the University of Waterloo. His high school experiences include being captain of both the swimming and ultimate team, as well as club president of the Good Guys at VC, a youth-led registered non-profit organization dedicated to addressing homelessness and tackling food insecurity in the Downtown Eastside. Thanks to his strong background in aquatics, swimming competitively for over 10 years at the national level, Henry also worked as a Lifeguard and Instructor at the Kerrisdale pool. As one of the founding members of ClearOne Innovators, Henry’s goal is gain experience in the civil engineering field, and increase his proficiency with AutoCAD, civil 3D, Revit, and Infraworks.

Gained practical experience with surveying, designing and site planning using automatic levels, leveling rods, and total stations. Used Civil 3d and infraworks to create a site plan for a new visitors residence in Waterloo.

Highschool Diploma

Vancouver College | 2018-2023

Received the president's honours society award for academic excellence in grades 9-12. Took a variety of AP courses including calculus, physics, and chemistry, and received the AP Scholar with Honor award. Gained a multitude of volunteer and leadership experience being the club president of the Good Guys, captain of the swim team with 15 members, and captain of the ultimate team with over 20 members.

Community Service

Good Guys | 2021-2023

In grades 11 and 12 I was the club president of the Good Guys at Vancouver College. The Good Guys is a youth-led non-profit organization with the mission to improve the lives of the less fortunate. We fundraise, making over 1000 care packages, and individually packed meals to encourage students to take initiative in their community. My duties included organizing, budgeting, and holding these events for over 80 students to participate in and planning for donated food items, hygiene supplies, and clothes to be handed out at Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Lifeguard/Instructor

City of Vancouver | 2022-2023

Fully certified in national lifeguard, standard first aid CPR-C & AED, and water safety instructor courses and worked for the city of Vancouver as a lifeguard and instructor throughout grade 12 at the Kerrisdale and Hillcrest pools. My duties consisted of lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons for ages ranging from 3-12. This job required me to deal with emergencies, be responsible for the safety of patrons, and be accountable to communicate with colleagues.
